latest ZFS Pool Version

Post by apollo567 »

Hello,
what is the latest ZFS Pool version please ?
Mine shows a ' 5000' but somewhere it says 'not all features available , do a zfs upgrade'.
What do I miss if I stay @ this current version ?

Kind regards

All Open-ZFS (non-Solaris) pools will show version 5000 unless they are running back at v28 or earlier (pre-split.)

You can look at your enabled features with 'zpool get all poolName'
The last handful of lines will be various features. You can compare this to the list of features in 'man zpool-features' to see if you are missing any. As long as you have at least 7 or 8 lines of features, you've probably got all the earliest/best improvements. If you upgrade, you can no longer use the pool on older ZFS software that doesn't implement the features. If you are using zfs send, it can also create an issue if the receiving pool is not capable of any features that are in use on the sending side.

THIS IS THE MESSAGE I GET FROM INFO ABOUT POOL WHEN I AM PERFORMING A SCRUB:

pool: HIT_ZFS
state: ONLINE
status: Some supported features are not enabled on the pool. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Enable all features using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done,
the pool may no longer be accessible by software that does not support
the features. See zpool-features(7) for details.
