Hi everyone,
I'm building my first N4F server and I have 5 WD Red 3 TB drives. I was wondering what is the best tradeoff configuration RAIDZ1, RAIDZ2 or even go wiht RAIDZ10(w/ 1 hot spare) ? I do understand that whatever configuration I choose, I still need a second backup for my data.
Thanks,
René

This is a good article - courtesy ms49434 on this forum:

I guess with five drives, you should consider (a) making sure you have ECC RAM, and go for (b) ZFS (of course!) with RaidZ1 (=Raid5).
