I'll chime in to state that I upgraded from 5403 without any issues as well.

Hi,
just want to share, with the upgrade i also switched my ISCSI from igst to ctl, and it rocks.
ZFS Vol (2x Samsung EVO 850 256GB STripe for testing) 10Gbe Intel X540 on Win10 client, and 10Gbe Intel X540 on Nas4free (via PCIE Passthrough from Proxmox).
Linear Read write, saturate Link.
4K not looking bad for non RDMA Setup.

Re: NAS4Free 11.1.0.4.5606 released (FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-P10)
Hi, with 5606 i have still the ZFS spindown isse.
I am using Spindown since a long time.
after 5403 build(fresh install), i am run in to a little "bug".
I have multiple Pools.
Drives are going in standby, but as soon something writes (only write(local, Samba,ISCSI), read is ok) to one Pool, all Pools wake up.(only ZFS Disk, UFS Disks are fine)
(at the moment i have two Nas4free, new and old)
On my old System this is not happening(build was 47xx something), now for testing this out, i also upgraded the old to 5403, now it has the same wrong behavior.

Re: NAS4Free 11.1.0.4.5606 released (FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-P10)
I have not used my old ZFS Vol, i copied my Data to spare Space and made a new ISCSI Setup, new ZFS Vol....(there a lot diff)
for example ctl is presenting ZFSVol Blocksize as physical, igst was 512b default....
if you mean the Steps for this, i can provide those.

Re: NAS4Free 11.1.0.4.5606 released (FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-P10)
Thanks, jasch.
I was hoping you might have been able to switch from istgt to ctl via the GUI - or through the command line but still relatively easy.
I might experiment in a VM when I have some time.
