Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
Repeated attempts at update from previous embedded version (5975) keep failing, despite several downloads of the upgrade file. Server says:
"Boot partition is too small. You need to reinstall from LiveCD/LiveUSB or resize boot partition of da2s1a."

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
because your previous version probably is a upgrade of several older version that have enought space in boot partition and do not fail. but now the problem of space appears.jamaroney wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018 11:44A fresh install would make sense if I was upgrading from a much earlier version, but why would the partition size be incorrect in an upgrade from the most recent previous version?
do you remember in what version do you do your last fresh install?

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
A fresh install occurred just last month w/ 5925(?).
However, I found the problem - the OS flash drive had become corrupted. That's one of the quirks of embedded - since the OS operates almost entirely in RAM, a dedicated OS drive can fail and can go undetected until there's a reboot/upgrade.
My disk problems aside, it would be nice to provide an option to increase the OS partition size when doing a fresh install.

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
Upgrade from 5925 went without a hitch.
Turned off usual trouble makers: OBI, ExtGui, NOC
Thanks for all the continued hard work.
Been using this NAS since the early FreeNAS days before the takeover.
XigmaNAS, although bit harder to say, is more reflective of the professionalism of this product!

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
I upgraded from 2925 to 6005 and have the two issues:
- my Lagg0 is not initialized any more - the device is completely missing after reboot, and no networking is possible -
it seems that "ifconfig lagg0 create" is now missing during boot
I manually switched back to a single network card.
- now after a few seconds after boot - I get the message "ERROR Device for mountpoint storage/swap missing or config changed!" on the main-page
???

Upgrade went flawless here.
You say your lagg0 is missing not here both lagg0 and lagg1 is up.

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
See my earlier posts above. Because my embedded OS flash drive was corrupted, I attempted a fresh embedded install of 6005 via LiveCD.
Yet I ran into a number of different problems, all of which were solved by doing a fresh embedded install of 5975, and then upgrading to 6005.
Has anyone else tried a fresh embedded install of 6005 via LiveCD? Any problems?

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
OK - Guys - sorry I found the "problem" with my lagg.
Shortly before i made some experiments with jails and OpenVPN - therefore I (manually) added into rc.conf cloned_interfaces.
This finally collidates / overrides the automatically by xigmanas generated entry for the lagg

Re: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6005 released (FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-P3)
I've suggested/tested this long time ago(2 times) but unfortunately it doesn't got much of attention(post is missing though)
I have some obsolete code in my shared server(for GPT installer, MBR was pending) for tester's reference but unfortunately www.serveo.net went down and still.
But to make things even simpler, this is what I was thinking off:
1) Let the installer automatically use x% of the total disk space based off(for example 10% for root partition).
2) Let the installer default to 2GB SWAP partition like FreeBSD installer, (currently it duplicates the physical RAM amount wasting disk pace for better use IMO).
Of course the SWAP partition space could be edited during the installer.
FAQS:
Q: But I only have a 2GB USB stick, what should I do?
A: Storage space is getting uber cheap nowadays, so you can get an 8GB+ USB stick for $2.99 in your favorite flea market.
