Post by Wiruz »

Hello

I have had Embedded before and as noone could help me with the thebrig issue i had i now just gave up !

Now i thought the full version would help me keep my settings but im stuck at the install. I choose option 9 which installs full version but its stuck saying "Installing system files on device da1p2.
I have tried over and over again. Even burned a new image with Rufus

This just sucks!

The USB stick i try to install on is a Kinston Datatravel 16Gb

try win32diskimage instead Rufus, perhaps have luck.

keep in mind that you can do the install on other machine ( eg: a laptop) and once your boot USB stick where created, move to real NAS hardware, <- With this you can test if your real hardware have some type of incompatibility with your USB stick
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Thank you for the reply! Will try win32diskimage instead but the thing is that i can boot but not install the full version (Option 9) from the meny. I get as far as "Installing system files on device da1p2" but will try again but with another software burning

No need to reduce disk writes if you install embeded version because run on RAM (sorry that do not work for you).

https://www.xigmanas.com/wiki/doku.php?id=faq:0075

PD: to move log use: clog_logdir

https://www.xigmanas.com/wiki/doku.php?id=faq:0046

If you finally use full, better try ZFSonRoot ( option 9 too), is full but can be updated by webGUI like an enbeded install.

ZFSonRoot ? I have Ufs disks that i want to keep and that sounds like ZFS format?
I will get new disks soon and then i will go for ZFS but i cant for now.
Thank you very much raulfg3! Appreciate your help!!

Thanks !

Thank you very much raulfg3! I will try this as i still cant install OpenVPN for some strange reason. It always ends up with the VPN issue and always different issues. The only thing i want to have on my server is the Vpn function to work and i thought it would be easy when i made a full installation of XigmaNas but obviously no :(.

Now in the end of the setup i try to start the VPN service and i get this message

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/openvpn: WARNING: /usr/local/etc/openvpn/openvpn.conf is not readable.
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/openvpn: WARNING: failed precmd routine for openvpn

Sorry for asking but do someone know what cousing this issue and how to fix it?

Here is the complete procedure with some suspicious errors i didn't get with Embedded version but then i couldn't save the settings :(
