Drive Attached to Firewire not Shown

Post by tuaris »

I have an addon PCI-X Firewire 800 board made by Belkin which uses the Texas Instruments TSB82AA2 chip. NAS4Free is able to detect the card but not any drives attached to it. Here is the output of dmesg:

Is this a FreeBSD issue? or is it that NAS4Free won't watch for Firewire storage devices?
If I plug and unplug the device I see the kernel messages on the console.

We have IP over firewire, but you need include SCSI over firewire.
See man. Try manually add sbp kernel and check your drive. If success - add it to /boot/loader.conf and reboot.
If success - pls create HowTo
Home12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7091)/ x64-embedded on AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7 A88XM-PLUS/ 16G RAM / UPS Ippon Back Power Pro 600

I copied the "sbp.ko" file from another 9.1 system and dropped it into the /boot/kernel folder on my NAS4Free server.

Ran the command:

Code: Select all

 kldload sbp
It loaded without issues:

Code: Select all

Nov 10 20:40:44 storage kernel: sbp0: <SBP-2/SCSI over FireWire> on firewire0
I plugged in my Firewire array and it showed up on the NAS4Free web interface.

So the NAS4Free image needs to include the kernel module in the future.

I dont understand, why it bug? 431 include this module, you can load it at boot time over /boot/loader.conf :?:

The sbp module is not included in 431 which is why I had to copy it from a different system.

All modules are included at /cf/boot/kernel/ in embedded version.
You can use it by adding sbp_load=YES to /cf/boot/loader.conf.
(Use Advanced|File Editor)
