0.7.2 Sabanda (revision 5543) - ZFS Pool - Faulted

Post by bigo »

So ive been out of the loop for some time due to some personal issues and need some help. I was running 0.7.2 Sabanda (revision 5543) on a machine and had 3 ZFS pools set up. The machine was giving me issues and it turned out to be that the USB stick that i was using for OS had become corrupted.

I finally got around to getting the machine up and running again via a fresh freenas install (still had the ISO) but when i synced the ZFS data only 2 pools came back to life. The one that is missing is my main array full of HD movies and i would hate to loose all of that data.

Here is the output of the Pool in question:

Code: Select all

  pool: Pool2tbEarsRz2
 state: FAULTED
status: The pool metadata is corrupted and the pool cannot be opened.
action: Destroy and re-create the pool from a backup source.
   see: http://www.sun.com/msg/ZFS-8000-72
 scrub: none requested
config:

        NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
        Pool2tbEarsRz2 FAULTED 0 0 1 corrupted data
          raidz2 ONLINE 0 0 6
            da1 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da2 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da3 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da4 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da5 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da6 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da7 ONLINE 0 0 0
            da8 ONLINE 0 0 0
Is there any way that i can save the data off of this array?

Crap, that's not what i wanted to hear, took me over 2 years to amass that collection, and starting over will be a daunting task.

I have some sys admins at work that manage the sun/solaris clusters at work, ill see if they can possibly help me out, if so ill report back my findings.

Good luck, remember that is possible to boot from an OpenSolaris CD and try to mount / scrub your pool, so if you can go to work with your NAS, perhaps sysadmin can help you.

My sys admin told me to try to export then import the pool. He also stated that its probably all gone and im going to loose everything but its worth a shot.

If i wanted to try that open solaris method you describe, what type of commands would i need to do? My CLI skill are very limited so any direction would be very helpful.

use the same commands in Opensolaris that use in BSD:

zpool export <- to export pool
zpool import , etc..

see ZFS guide: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19253-01/819-5461/index.html
