Hi,
I have installed nas4free and it seemed to be working fine I created shares etc and i can see and write to them from windows8 and windows7 but I cannot get XP to work I can see the server on microsoft networks on all the computers but when I click on it using XP I get
I have changed the cifs/smb to NT1 but that has not helped any ideas, I know I have been vague with the other things I have changed to get it to work but I think it may be something specific I have missed.
Thanks for any help you can give me

Re: only working on some windows
Hi
I have the same behaviour with Windows all versions.
temp salvation?
Go to SERVICES ‹ CIFS/SMB.
Change login by dropdown menu to Local Login - restart CIFS/SMB.
After this change back via login by dropdown menu to Anonymous - restart CIFS/SMB
Works for me. However after booting the NAS you have to do this again.
Bug or not - do not know?

Well, this seems to do the trick for me. Not sure what Local Master Browser does, but it seems fixed, also after a reboot.raulfg3 wrote:Try to select : Local Master Browser = NO
Thank you very much.

Re: only working on some windows
Thanks raulfg3, it has made a difference but it takes me to a windows login screen, I have tried using name@server.workgroup workgroup\name name\server name\workgroup name\server.workgroup but still cannot log in.
I want the box to be secure so I do not want an anonymous login.
