USB drive not mounting properly when rebooted.

Post by fizzgig656 »

hi, hope this is the right area, ive added a USB drive to be shared and monitored by bittorrent. but when i reboot it does not mount properly? help.

i added the disk in management, formated, then mounted. if i look for it in the CIFS/SMB services its their, if i reboot and look again its not?

am i doing something wrong?

it seems that N4F thinks the usb is mounted, but it can not be seen as mounted? ie i can not see it to create a share. If i use the disk/mount point/tools to mount the usb it fails as already mounted. if i unmount then remount it, all works fine. till i reboot then it starts again?

any thought.

Got curious and tried an USB-disk, did 'Import Disks' - formatted as UFS, created mountpoint and shared as smb/cifs.. and it worked just fine after reboot, so sorry I'm no help at all :-) , but try another USB-port, some might use an internal HUB.

ok thanks, i tried a few ports and a different usb stick, added disk, formatted using standard defaults, created mount and before adding as a smb i check that is was visible to ass, then rebooted and although the mount shows ok, i can't see it in SMB to share. if i use the tool(from memory) tab where you can select the drive and run a mount, it fails, if i run a unmount it fails, then if i run the mount again it completed. weird, i didnt think i wan doing it wrong. but how can i resolve. not a fresh install??

ok , took the hammer approach and formatted the os drive and flash drives. im typing this as i go, so new OS installed, formatted and mounted the usb i was having issues with. seems to stay mounted this time properly after a reboot. when i add my raidz it seems to not mount properly. so destroy the raid and format time???
