Embedded on flash card error

Post by jayze »

Hi,

I have some problems getting Nas4Free to work properly.

I have installed the latest version on a compact flash card with the live CD. Everything went fine.

When i boot on the card, nas4free boots correctly.

But it seems that i cannot make any changes whatsoever on it. Either via Shell or Web Interface.

Via shell, it tells me that it is a read only system.

Via Web, i get this when i try a "save": Warning: file_get_contents(/conf/config.xml): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /etc/inc/xmlparse.inc on line 145 Error: could not open XML input
I suspect a readonly error on this one too.

When i get the error, i cannot access the interface anymore until i reboot.

And if i reboot, the changes i made are still there!

Any ideas?

strange, your CF is in a CF2IDE adapter?, revise that do not have any switch to protect writes ( read only). revise option in BIOS to protect write to IDE Disk ( Your CF)

Do you install full or embeded?.
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

we use a sd-ada40001 CF to sata2 adapter , no switch or anything on the card.

I used the option embedded OS.

Nothing strange in the bios

my guess would be to edit fstab to mount with the RW option, but i don't know if it's the good way out.

post your log, sometimes , when OS detect an error and is improper shutdown, mount partition in read only mode to protect it, you need to fsck and revert to rw when correct.

sorry I never see a log and hardware like yours, perhaps you need help from others gurus.

I think that important lines are:

Code: Select all

Dec 14 11:19:01 ryn-nas01 kernel: ada0 at ata2 bus 0 scbus3 target 0 lun 0
Dec 14 11:19:01 ryn-nas01 kernel: ada0: <CF CARD 4GB Ver6.04K> ATA-5 device
Dec 14 11:19:01 ryn-nas01 kernel: ada0: Serial Number 5B290A800001E0BA
Dec 14 11:19:01 ryn-nas01 kernel: ada0: 300.000MB/s transfers (SATA 2.x, UDMA5, PIO 512bytes)
Dec 14 11:19:01 ryn-nas01 kernel: ada0: 3811MB (7806960 512 byte sectors: 16H 63S/T 7745C)
Dec 14 11:19:01 ryn-nas01 kernel: ada0: Previously was known as ad4
But nothing strange here.

try to use an old IDE disk to install N4F to discard Phisical problems in CF, but I dont really thing that CF are the problem.
