I solve the same behaviour, clearing cache, in readme is a warnning about clear cache because some javascript are changed between version:

Revision 573 - Directory Listing
Modified Sun Dec 16 14:06:48 2012 UTC (4 weeks, 1 day ago) by daoyama
rewrite with jQuery.
remove old javascript.

Clear cache not help me. I was test in 2 PCs - some problem.
My browsers configured with paranoia - I use IE for connect only with my boss site. Firefox configured clear cache, when I close it. Iron work from ram-disk - it always clean.
Also when I boot from liveusb and set some IP, I have working menu

try a new embeded install that do not use /usr from hardisk to identify if your problems come with this way.

If only DHCP server is the problem, try to use the embeded into router, or install in NAS4Free if is not posuble/option, I remenber taht DHCP server have a few dependencies, so is not probable that can be afeccted in case of upgrade of N4F.

All work on my old 457.
I wrote my post about reinstall php for add extension at November 6th, 2012, after 403 version ( Mon Oct 29 23:52:05 2012 UTC )
I need to learn changes on 573 version and renew tip.

UPD All begin to work.
Before upgrade embedded version to 573 with mounted /usr from another place need remove( or backup ) all from /path/to/mouted_usr/local/www folder, then upgrade server.

I can't follow the links to the 608 download (broken).
My Nas4free upgraded some 20 days ago to NAS4Free 9.1.0.1 (605) automaticly through the web GUI (firmware upgrade) but now it says that the lastest version is:
Latest Release: NAS4Free-x64-embedded-9.1.0.1.573.img (Sun, 16 Dec 2012 15:42:51 +0000)

What is going on?

I was using .608 (x86) without problems.
I recently replaced my CPU with an x64-capable version, but continued to run .608 (x86) and all shares worked OK.

I just updated .608 (x86) -> .621 (x64) and while I can ping the NAS, "net view" on other boxes does not show the NAS at all, and "net view \\nas4free" gives an error.

Reverted to .573 (x86): OK
Reverted to .608 (x86): OK
Reverted to .621 (x86): OK
Reverted to .621 (x64): bad

So, I'm running .621 (x86) now. This may not be a .621 problem, it might be just my specific hardware mix.

Should I d/l, burn, and try older versions of x64?

Al S.

No problems here. I'm glad to see that the glitch in "Command Scripts" was fixed.

However, I'm having the same quirk with Transmission as before (see viewtopic.php?f=47&t=2292), but I suspect that the problem is something with Transmission or in my settings for it in the WebGUI. But it's not a big deal, just weird....

The only problem I had was that builds 605 & 608 failed to launch the last command in "Command Scripts." For my unit, that command just happened to be for Sickbeard. So, I created a useless/redundant command to be last after Sickbeard ("cd /'), and that solved the problem. With build 621, that glitch has been fixed.

But I have never had a problem getting Sickbeard to run.

Advice @ Asavage:

Do not upgrade to 64bit and change versions! Upgrade to 64 bit and when you are sure everything is OK, then and only then, upgrade your version.
I don't know what platform you are running, but please read Q: Can I upgrade from the Embedded 32bit version, installed on a hard drive, to 64bit version? to see how this can be done.
asavage wrote:Should I d/l, burn, and try older versions of x64?
No! Do not try to change versions! Fix the architecture first, then change versions as necessary.

Please start a new topic in the appropriate area according to the rules and guidelines if you need more help with this.

Thanks,
Al

Jan 5 16:10:59 nas4free lighttpd[1599]: (http_auth.c.877) get_password failed, IP: 192.168.1.133

Worked fine in build 573. If I manually populate the file, I'm able to authenticate as I was before.

I'm try to reproduce but here it seems working fine!
Odd, I created a NAS4Free VM to make sure I could reproduce the issue on a 2nd config.

WebServer
Protocol: HTTP
Port: 8000
Run As: www
Document Root: /mnt
Enable Authentication checked
URL: / Realm: Webserver
Enable Directory Listing checked

User
Name: nas
Full Name: NAS User
Password: 3 letters
Shell: nologin (also tried various login shells)
Primary Group: nobody
Additional Groups: none
Home Directory: default
User Portal unchecked, but I've tried it checked as well.

In both the VM and my physical install I can access the URL with clear text authentication from browser under 573 and the /mnt/.websrv_htpasswd has the nas user in the file. Under 608, the .websrv_htpasswd file is empty and no account credentials work.

Both are embedded installs from the 431 Live ISO and upgraded via firmware update to 573, then 608.
So, I'm having this exact same problem again in 621, but I've done a little poking around to find out what's causing it.

The script that sets up the .websrv_htpasswd file is /etc/rc.d/websrv_htpasswd. It runs this command to extract the user accounts in order to hash the password into the .websrv_htpasswd file.

/usr/local/bin/xml sel -t -m "//access/user" -v "concat(login,' ',password)" -i "position() != last()" -n -b /conf/config.xml | /usr/local/bin/xml unesc

In .573, that returns all of the configured user accounts. In .608 and .621, it returns all but the last user account.

In my case, I had only one user 'nas', so it returns nothing and no accounts can authenticate.

Given how many of the issues people reported had to do with missing the last command in a script or missing the last drive for SMART, I'm thinking something has changed with the config XML file or how it's being interpreted.

Something has changed in the /usr/local/bin/xml executable. I copied my config.xml from the 621 box to a 573 box and ran the same command from my post above. In 573 it returns both accounts, in 621 it only lists the 1st.

Greek translation is complete, too!
@raul : I need a small favor:
Since my ups cannot be connected directly to any of my NAS's (it uses an RS232 interface and none of my NAS has a serial port), I cannot be sure that my translation is 100% accurate.
Would it be possible for you, after the next release, when the greek translation is updated, to change the webui to greek and post screenshots? This way I will see if the translation needs correction...
