Nas4Free cannot see my external eSATA drive

Post by ghuber »

Hi,

I have looked in this forum and have found similar problems, but no solution, so perhaps you might be able to help me.

I have a DeLock eSATA/USB 2.0 Docking station for two older ext3 drives I want to attach to the eSATA port of my HP Microserver N40L running (full install) nas4free (537). The eSATA port as part of the server's mainboard seems to be recognized by nas4free.

however, which way I try, nas4free won't see the external drive.

dmesg reports:

All the other harddrives as well as the main boot drive (SSD) are attached to the internal mainboard SATA ports, so I am pretty sure, they work ok.

I thought it had something to do with hotplugging, so I rebooted and rebooted, but nas4free just won't see the drive.

connecting the DeLock dockingstation to the old QNAP NAS (so glad I switched to nas4free!) worked without a problem.

Do you have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Many thanks for your time and help

Georg
