[HP N40L] Can't boot with Hard RAID On

Post by jeje91m »

Hi,

I've setup my N40L today but when I use RAID on BIOS (to do Hardware RAID1), Nas4Free (installed on USB Key) won't boot.

Is the controller not supported by Nas4Free ?
Have you a solution for me ?

Thanks a lot,
Best regards

please consider do NOT use RAID BIOS because you are in risk, if your HP N40L fail you need exactly same HP to mount your RAID, use ZFS Raid (Raidz1) is a best and Robust sollution.

Please read more about ZFS, an example: http://forums.freenas.org/showthread.ph ... light=.PPT
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

yes, But use UPS to avoid damage in case of power lost ( ZFS recover very well of power lost but better if not necessary).
