only can wright to root folder of share

Post by jwk2801 »

Hello Im new here so bare with me.

I imported my pool from freenas 8, all is well there.
I began to make new shares and users and groups.
I want 2 groups <private> and <mediausers>
In the dataset <Data> I made owner <root> and group <private> and group and user to wright)
So I made my first share <Data>
Set my user <John> to the <private> group.
Now I can wright to the <Data> folder but no folders inside that.

What am i missing ???

Thank you.

revise owner and group of Data Folder and folders inside that (ls -l) and change if are not desired (chown -R user:group /mnt/Data/yourfolder)
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

post a jpg of how you configure SMB, there are certain values that you may consider;
Guest account
Use this option to override the username ('ftp' by default) which will be used for access to services which are specified as guest. Whatever privileges this user has will be available to any client connecting to the guest service. This user must exist in the password file, but does not require a valid login.
Map to guest
Create mask
and
Guest Enable guest access
This controls whether this share is accessible by guest account.
Inherit permissions Enable permission inheritance
The permissions on new files and directories are normally governed by create mask and directory mask but the inherit permissions parameter overrides this. This can be particularly useful on systems with many users to allow a single share to be used flexibly by each user.
sorry for copy&paste ..
