I bought this card for my Dell NAS box:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6833106033
My PC is a Dell Dimension E521 with a dual core Athlon chip. It has a built-in 10/100 NIC and it works fine. I went into the BIOS and turned off the built-in NIC and installed the new one. N4F sees it and it shows up as em0. It can't ever get an IP address from the router. I removed my NAS storage disk and the boot flash drive, installed the old original Windows disk and the new Intel NIC works fine. I did have to download and install a driver. So the hardware works, at least. I have a CAT 5E cable to the router and I checked it on another PC with a gigabit interface. Works fine.
Where should I go next? Do I need a driver?
Thanks!

Re: New Intel PCI Express NIC not working
First you need to identify chipset used: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ ... apter.html
next find using google if chipset is supported by BSD 9.1 that uses Nas4Free:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=In ... 80&bih=818
http://www.freebsd.org/releases/9.1R/hardware.html
and
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?quer ... .1-RELEASE
So your NIC must be detected and work in latest version of Nas4Free 9.1.0.1.573 based on BSD 9.1.
If not work in DHCP mode, try first time to assing a fixed IP, and check that works.
