New hardware upgrade for the existing NAS4Free Server

Post by sorry »

Hi all,

Now I have intel atom 330 with 6 x 2T hdd and USB boot nas4free system (running ZFS raid2z). It is planned to upgrade the server hardware to intel core cpu with ECC support and would like to run nas4free as VM on the vmware esxi 5 which share the server with other services by vm host.

I would like to ask can i run the system like this and the existing 6x 2T hdd only access by the nas4free vm via raw mapping. can the zfs pool resume as normal like this? Thank you for your kindly help. ;)

Thanks for your information raulfg3 ^^
Virtual raw mapping seems can solved the problem.

if not using virtual raw mapping but use vt-d supported hardware which let nas4free directly access, can solve the problem about block 0 and s.m.a.r.t too? But one problem is how to handle the vm datastore access when I/O is taken by nas4free
