problems with accessing webgui to finish install

Post by steveneddy »

I've been trying to access the webgui with the ip address given, but I get the message "web page can not be displayed" I've searched the site here but have found no related topics. I will appreciate any help. My relevant specs are: Windows 8 OS, LAN Ethernet\wifi card, latest non beta version of NAS4 free. And as a PC and network technician I've already troubleshooted my desktop computer and network; I've checked the firewall, added the ip address as a trusted site, checked router configurations, etc.

do you configure interface NIC ?.

sometimes N4F use firewire as default NIC, and you need to select apropiate NIC.

IF your cable is connetd to your NIC , when you enter in shell menu (option 1) to change NIC, "UP" is show in the correct NIC.

Option 1 is the way to go. Option 2 is setting IPs/gateway and DNS ;)

new installs or a new NIC need steps one and two accomplished
I use DHCP as my router returns the same IP to a give mac address.
but even if it did not I would first use DHCP to get an address in a good range
then change to fixed.

after steps 1 & 2 a good IP address is displayed

please provide more info, eg: your board, NIC used, how you configure option 1 and option 2 in shell, what explorer do you use to access to NAS, IP, Gateway & DNS of your win8. install that do you use (full or Embeded), exact version of N4F that do you use, keep in mind that is a basic that users can access to webGUI to use/manage his NAS, so access to webGUI is granted unless some config related to LAN is wrong.

CIDR 23 = 255.255.254.0
CIDR 24 = 255.255.255.0

just in case if you didn't know ;)

But this shouldn't be the prob, when you get a DHCP Address. Tried another cable? Tried a static ip and use crossover cable directly to your Client?
