Hello everyone. I've been looking all over the internet to solve this problem. It started a 2 - 3 hours ago after I wanted to upgrade my NAS4Free installation. Let me first explain my setup.
I have a NAS4Free virtual machine running within ESXi 5. It has a Highpoint Rocket RAID 3520 controller assigned trough passtrough which has attached:
2x 500Gb Samsung F3 disks in RAIDZ mirror
3x 1Tb Samsung F1 disks in RAIDZ-5
1x 3Tb Western Digital Green disk
After I rebooted the VM (mounting the ISO failed, forgot to tick "connect at power on") I tried to access a share and got the following errorcode in Windows Server 2008: 0x80070035 indicating the network resource could not be found. OSX sort of shows the same error message only adding the path is unfindable.
When checking the /mnt/* directory trough the shell I could still see the dataset names but the actual shares are gone. In the system logs I found the following errormessages:
smbd[4820]: canonicalize_connect_path failed for service <sharename>, path <path>
smbd[4820]: [2013/02/16 18:24:08.403256, 0] smbd/service.c:1055(make_connection_snum)
It could be something involving rights for the Samba service, but as root I could not see the shares in the shell?
Disk SMART status (as far as readable by NAS4Free) are fine. Also the ZFS dataset status shows no errors. I'm able to create a folder within the datasets. The dashboard still shows how much space is used from each dataset.
I tried updating NAS4Free to the latest version, tried to reboot the server and the Samba service itself, no problems occur everything goes well, still no accessible shares.
I'm hoping the anyone could help me on this one! If anything is unclear, please ask!

Re: Samba shares inaccessible after reboot
I've been doing some more research. It seems that it might have something to do with rights. Alltough I'm logged in as root/admin in the Shell I cannot see the shared folders in /mnt/<dataset>. I also read that it might have had something to do with capitals in the filepath. But that is something that doesn't seem likely to me. Can anyone help me on this one?

Re: Samba shares inaccessible after reboot
I solved the problem.
Within the dataset editor I checked the rights on the user account I was using. It seemed the rights where gone. I readded the rights and I was all good to go.

Re: Samba shares inaccessible after reboot
Did you check to make sure the account you are using to access the shares has the proper permissions to that dataset?

Re: Samba shares inaccessible after reboot
Hello all get similar error on both my win7 and win10 machines. I have been at this for the past week to no avail. I checked the configuration on both my win machines and they are ok . I am installing 11.0.0.4 rev 3252.all my datasets have all permissions checked for root and wheel. I am running 4 by 1TB formatted zfs raidz1 with 1pool media with 4 datasets called media documents downloads and www. For the moment I do not want to restrict anyone from anything. (this will come later with the www dataset)> Both Pcs see the nas4free server however when I click to it I get this error. what should I do? go back to an older version?
thank you in advance for all your help
