Hi
I am new here and relatively new to NAS4Free. I have used it a couple of times before but only with full computer systems.
The challenge this time is to run it on an HP X510 Data Vault. This is designed as a headless system and I do not want to add the components needed to get a display running on it. I can add a USB keyboard if needed but I will be typing blind if I do.
The install will need to run from a USB stick as there is no built in CD/DVD device. Again I may be able to use a USB DVD drive but that may mean trying to work out how to reset the BIOS to boot from it.
If anyone has done this kind of install before I would be grateful for any advice.

+1 to thisI would load and test the boot USB stick on another machine first
Follow tutorial here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=2556
Do you have another spare pc with monitor? Make your installation with this machine on your usb stick, reboot this machine from your stick after creation. Change to DHCP, check it, if it gets an IP from your DHCP. save config, shut down.
Then plugin this stick on your HP thingie and boot. when you hear the 'n4fbeep' (pc speaker required), check in your router or where your DHCP resides, which IP the hp thingie got.
