Hi all,
a friend of mine is trying to install N4F on an HP ML310 G4 - the install works (embedded) but when he selects 'Disks' - 'Management', his box reboots...
It has the Smartarray card with 2 SATA disks and we think that may be creating the issue... He tried removing the raid through the BIOS config tool, he can then select 'Disks' Management but then the disks are not recognised by N4F.
As the ML310 is marked as 'support out of the box', we were wondering if anybody has any experience with this type of machine.
Isn't there a way to get that Smartarray to just act as a disk controller and pass through the traffic instead of having it run the RAID itself?
All tips & hints are welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Bernard

Re: Install on HP ML310 G4 - issues
I believe that in bios the ml310 has an option to change from raid to ide or something like that. I think I have some ml310s at work. If I find time I will check one tomorrow...

Re: Install on HP ML310 G4 - issues
Good afternoon,
i am the friend (with the HP ML310G4) Bernard was talking about.
the problem is solved
instead of connecting the disks on the Smart Array card which sat on the PCI expansion slot, i plugged it into the SATA connector (which is quite well hidden, terribly sorry i didn't see it before).
thanks to all for your help.
kindest regards,
johan
ps : i'll make sure to do the formal introduction afterwards according to forum rules once i know my setup.
