Hi guys,
currently I'm using a x84 of N4F.
I have build in 8 GB RAM.. so it was a dump mistake to install the x84 build.
The build-in CPU is a Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G530 @ 2.40GHz. After googleing this CPU supports x64.
Currently I have a full configured system running with 2 jails.
The settings I can export via the webgui, but am I able to use it on the x64 system?
Also I have a ZFS pool with raidz1 and 5 hdds. Can I continue using this pool after the system change?
I need the 4GB more RAM space, for additional applications. So what are your suggestions for this?
Cheers,
himbrr

Re: Upgrading from x86 to x64
HI Himbrr,
You mean x86.
I don't know what platform you are running.
It can be done. Please read Q: Can I upgrade from the Embedded 32bit version, installed on a hard drive, to 64bit version?
Your configuration is complicated.
With luck it will all work, if not you can revert and try again later.
Regards,
Al

I am not sure since I don't know what applications you are running. It should all work, but will still be 32 bit. After successful change you may want to install 64bit versions of applications. The possibility exists some things in the jails will not be happy.himbrr wrote:but am I able to use it on the x64 system?
Yes, I don't see a major problem here.himbrr wrote:Also I have a ZFS pool with raidz1 and 5 hdds. Can I continue using this pool after the system change?
Backup your configuration, backup your OS partition/device/jails. This will allow you to go back in case of disaster. Follow instructions in FAQ I gave you above adjusting for the platform you are running.himbrr wrote:So what are your suggestions for this?

Re: Upgrading from x86 to x64
HI Himbrr,
OK, you are running Full. The "Long Version" in the FAQ should work fine for you & SSD. Based on everything you've written I don't expect you'll have major problems, but it''s good to have backup
.
All the best,
Al

Re: Upgrading from x86 to x64
Just a question before I start.
For the full version I should also download the embedded IMG? Because this is only needed for backup the configuration I think.
And can I use the NAS4Free-x64-LiveUSB-9.1.0.1.636.img instead of the CD?
Kind regards,
himbrr

Re: Upgrading from x86 to x64
The upgrade worked perfectly!
Now I've just a problem with the jails...
I made a clean install of the jails again and not used the old ones.
So I followed the instructions of the (updated) wiki post about jails.
But if I try to start the jails I'm getting the following error:
Do you have an idea about this issue?
