Install full os failed

Post by tester »

Hi,

I am running embedded OS on USB flash without problem. Now I tried to install full OS. I tried to use IDE HDD and two USB flash drives(8G and 2G) without success. See attached picture. What is wrong there?

You have problem with usb - flash.
Try use another usb-port or replace usb-flash

well, I tried 2 USB with different ports, one IDE harddrive, all fails. I tried us another PC with the same USB flash drives and hardrive to install full OS without problem. I suspect some problem with motherboard, I install XP on it, it work great. So I do not know where the problem is.

I am not a fan of USB flash
great when it works, PITA otherwise
these have always worked for me [for embedded]
http://www.logicsupply.com/categories/f ... sh_modules

SSDs are designed to take the e-pounding of an OS
flash sticks/cards are for light storage use
add to that early MOBO USB was not always well integrated,
to me it is the least trustworthy of booting options!

my atom/ion embedded N4F uses one of these SATA flash
shown here testing other hardware

I will use USB to test hardware for suitability
but I do not have any NAS that boot from USB in the final form.
