SCSI Drives not being seen?

Post by Cruster »

Hi all,

I thought I'd try out NAS4Free on my dual xeon system. It currently has six SCSI drives, but when I boot NAS4Free from a USB
stick none of the drives are visible in the Disk management window. I have tried rescanning, but no luck.
Any ideas? :)

(EDIT) Just a thought - but I think the USB device boots before the SCSI gets initialised... as when booting from the hard drive (VMWare ESXi 4.1 installed) the hard drive boots after the SCSI controller does its stuff... I wonder if that could be the problem... ?

Some brief system details (from NAS4Free report generator)

NAS4Free 9.1.0.1 (revision 636) x86-liveUSB
A M I OEMRSDT Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz 3584MiB RAM

Intel 82801EB/R (ICH5) USB 2.0 controller bus=1 hubaddr=5 port=3
devaddr=2 interface=0 Intel ICH5 UDMA100 controller Intel 82801EB
(ICH5) USB controller USB-A Intel 82801EB (ICH5) USB controller USB-B
Intel 82801EB (ICH5) USB controller USB-C

if your xeon is x64 bit compatible, use X64 bit version of Nas4Free.

What is your SCSI controller?, it's supported by BSD?
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Hi,

It's not X64 bit compatible unfortunately. The SCSI I think is Intel raid controller SRCU42E:

Is BSD, FreeBSD? I found a list of compatible controllers here: http://www.freebsd.org/releases/9.1R/hardware.html#DISK
But no SRCU42E SCSI is listed... ?
