Re: Cannot install to usb
You need other CD-reader ( Your actual CD-Reader is not recognized).
Or Download USB compatible ISO to install from USB ( TO other USB or Disk or CF , or your Boot device).

Re: Cannot install to usb
I don't understand very well the process.
My goal is to use the embedded way to have in my new HP N40L only the data disks and the USB stick.
I burned the image "live USB" into a USB stick (1 GB) and I booted and it works but I cannot save the configuration.
Should I install the live USB onto a second USB stick? Where and how can I save the parameters otherwise?
Thanks

Re: Cannot install to usb
YES, use option 9ku-gew wrote:Should I install the live USB onto a second USB stick?
And this install in a second USB-stick can be full or embeded.
once installed in a second USB-Stick you can unplug first and format or use it for others uses, and boot from second.

Re: Cannot install to usb
OK, I did it and it worked. However, I had to think a while between embedded or embedded with data partition: I see no disadvantages in having a second data partition if the USB medium is bigger than needed, so why is the first one the preferred choice?

Re: Cannot install to usb
USB memory is usually not industrial grade flash with wear leveling algorithms.ku-gew wrote:OK, I did it and it worked. as a storage of the embedded OS it is ONLY used on boot and when the configuration is changed.
24/7 use might very quickly exceed the mean time to failure.
the USB [except 3] is also not a very fast connection.
my 3 N4F use SATA or PATA industrial grade flash

and never a boot medium failure!

Re: Cannot install to usb
the main disaventage of have data in second partition is that you lose it if you need to reinstall Nas4Free, so it's recommneded to have data & boot disk separate.ku-gew wrote:OK, I did it and it worked.
