Hi guys, this is my first time mounting a file server and I'm not so into Linux, so it's been a bit difficult to figure out what was happening inside the server that doesn't work properly, but I think I got somewhere and I'll try to explain it. Also, my english is terrible, sorry.
I've installed the last version of NAS4Free, setted up all System and Active Directory settings, created directories and defined valid users for each one. I tried getting in the server, via IP and via the server name, from a fellow's machine and had no problems, user authentication and permissions over directories worked great. Then I did the same from my machine, but it gave me an error like "Error logon, invalid user". After that, i went to each machine that should have access to the server. Half the users entered fine, while the other half got the same error as me. I checked out the log and the error was something like "invalid user". Then I checked the list of users from Active Directory, to see if the affected ones weren't there, but we were all in the list, so what I understand is happening with the problematic users is this:
1. Some user try to access the server.
2. NAS4Free compare the user's credentials with the ones in Active Directory.
3. Credentials theorically matchs, but for some reason, NAS4Free sees them different, so in the practice, authentication fails.
Honestly, I don't know what to think and we are losing so much time with this, so any ideas will be welcome.
Thanks in advance, Augusto.

Re: User's authentication issue
you do not create users in Nas4Free, for Active Directory , you must create Users in Windows side not in Nas4Free WebGui.augusto.b wrote:I've installed the last version of NAS4Free, setted up all System and Active Directory settings, created directories and defined valid users for each one.
PD: I Do not Use Active Directory, my LAN has only one user.

Re: User's authentication issue
I meant the valid users for my shares, in the Auxiliary Parameters box "valid users = DOMAIN\user"

Sorry as I say, I don't have experience using Active Directory, but perhaps this post of Daoyama, can help you:

Re: User's authentication issue
Thanks!! I'll read it more carefully later, now I can't. I have one question, it will allow me to skip Active Directory authentication? My problem is the moment when NAS4Free compare credentials and they don't match, so if I can skip that moment probably I would have my problem solved. But this will be the same thing as use Local User authentication instead of AD and add users one by one, am I right?raulfg3 wrote:Sorry as I say, I don't have experience using Active Directory, but perhaps this post of Daoyama, can help you:
