smbd using only 1 core

On the status page, 3 of the 4 cores show very little usage (<=10%) but 1 core keeps running at 70%+ and looking at processes, the only process that is pulling cpu is smbd. Is there some kind of configuration i missed that samba is only using 1 core or what. System is running 9.1.0.1 - Sandstorm (revision 636)

NO, you do not miss any. is because SAMBA 3 is monocore. and is not SMP.

Samba is not multi-threaded, it scales by my spawning new smbd processes for each new client connection.

smbd handles all connection requests. It spawns a new process for each client connection made. That is why you may see so many of them, one per client connection.
