Hi Guys,
I have this:
Name freenas1.local
Version 0.69 Kwisatz Haderach (revision 4221)
built on Sun Jan 4 13:23:46 UTC 2009
OS Version FreeBSD 6.4-RELEASE-p1 (revision 199506)
Platform amd64-embedded on AMD Athlon(tm) Processor LE-1620 running at 2400MHz
which I am very happy with and have no reason to change. BUT I do want to get iperf onto it which came in with 0.7 I believe. I tried pkg_add but it returned an error as the urls appear to no longer work.
So my question is how can I either (a) get iperf onto it; or (b) upgrade with zero chance of having a problem with my RAID 5. Apparently I used geom.vinum to create the SoftRAID5 and that can be an issue? I have no idea I just saw that in another post when I was looking for something else.
I tried to find a 0.7 version (which supported my 64bit AMD) online to no avail.
Ideas?

Re: Add iperf or minor upgrade?
to add iperf , you need to locate it in port and set apropiate setenv packagesite:
eg:
please revise using filezilla or firefox, that iperf package exist in path ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports ... nt/Latest/ and check that is compatible ( AMD or i386) with your system.
eg:
Code: Select all
setenv PACKAGESITE "ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/AMD64/packages-9-current/Latest/"please revise using filezilla or firefox, that iperf package exist in path ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports ... nt/Latest/ and check that is compatible ( AMD or i386) with your system.

Re: Add iperf or minor upgrade?
OK thanks. With some tweaking of that path I had what I thought was a successful install by using
Typing iperf on the command line though results in a a "command not found" error despite /usr/local/bin being in the PATH.
So I typed
and got the following error:
I thought any dependencies would have been installed. Is this a path problem because of the first issue where it won't execute without the full path or is there something else missing in my old version?
Thanks for the help so far.
Code: Select all
pkg_add -r iperfSo I typed
Code: Select all
/usr/local/bin/iperfand got the following error:
Code: Select all
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libstdc++.so.6" not found, required by "iperf"Thanks for the help so far.

Re: Add iperf or minor upgrade?
You're running a old version of freenas. It is running "FreeBSD 6.4-RELEASE-p1". I don't think freebsd.org has the appropriate packages needed for freebsd 6.4. What 'setenv PACKAGESITE' location did you use? If you browse 'ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/' or 'ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/' you'll see that freebsd 6.4 is not in this list.
With some googling you might be able to figure out how to install specific packages from old FreeBSD 6.4 DVD.

Re: Add iperf or minor upgrade?
Thanks that is the info I needed. I found all the old distros at the freebsd archive. This is the specific one I used.
For those in the future I first used pkg_delete to remove the iperf I had installed and then installed this correct version.
There is still some path problem where I have to change to /usr/local/bin and use ./iperf to get it to work but it is working. Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Add iperf or minor upgrade?
You really should considering a upgrade to NAS4Free!
This FreeNAS builds are leak as hell if security is needed!
We also do not support this as those builds are very long end of life now.
Please upgrade the systems.
