Hi Guys,
I have a couple of files on my nas that people can see but cant access. I have found that i can give them access by going into the file manager on the Web GUI, however when i allow the folder to be written, read and executed it only allows that folder, not any folder after that. I find myself always having to go in and make new folders avaliable to everyone.
Is there an easier way to do this?
regards,
DanAddz

Re: Full Permission
Yes, apply permission in recursive mode (-r) in shell, or use WinSCP If You want apply using a GUI.
Pd:perhaps You need to enable ACL or hiretance in SMB shares to have the same permission that parents folders.

Re: Full Permission
Hi raulfg3,
I did what you said and applied the permission in recursive mode (-r) in shell and it has changed all the directories and files to the correct rwx.
However when i create a new folder in this directory it does not inherit the parent directories rwx settings. Is there anyway to make it always inherit?
Can you please also explain a bit more about this "ACL or hiretence in SMB?"
Regards,
DanAddZ

Re: Full Permission
go to Service|CIFS/SMB|Share|Edit and mark inherit permmission ( Sorry if I wrote hiretence).
once enable, you must inherit parent permmission like described here: http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=do ... s_add_edit
Of course , you need to modify owner and permission of SMB folders first time prior to inherit in his children.
PD: if permission rwx is your problem, please create allway files and folders from SMB ( Not from shell, not from ftp) and modify Create Mask, and Directory Mask according to your needs http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=do ... _smb_samba
