Hi,
I am trying to make a full installation on one of my USB sticks, but it seems to stop when it reaches copying files stage. I have waited for 30min and it still sits there. Tried 2 different USB sticks as well as tried to do that under VM in Windows and it is exactly the same...
Under VM in Windows I am able to install it on VM drive, but not USB.
In both instances it boots nicely from CD/USB stick, but when I try to install it, it partitions the stick and then starts copying the files where it stucks!
Help please!

Re: USB installation problem
i had a similar problem when i tried freenas (no problem with nas4free).
i ended up using a cf card instead of a usb stick.
it had to do with the stick reporting the wrong geometry.

Re: USB installation problem
For some reason it had to be that long, left it yesterday for the night and in the morning it finished with no errors... I will move the installation to a HDD once I add a SATA controller.
Thanks for your help!

Re: USB installation problem
You only have 3 SATA ports on your Board, so is't a waste to use a SATA to boot from it, try a USB like this: http://www.transcendusa.com/support/dlc ... FM-EDM.pdf
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Re: USB installation problem
those are usb also and might show the same problems.
and they are very expensive.
he might as well buy an additional controller if he needs more ports.
