Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F

Post by ernie »

Hello

I have nas4free Prester 2433.
There is also the rrdgraph, extended webgui and Btsync extensions.

I installed the brig Alcatraz with no issue.
I created a jail and installed owncloud with no issue.

Then I used ftsab menu in order to link my data with owncloud. I stopped the jail, I modified the section fstab (via edit menu) and I saved. Then I cannot click on the button start: if I try, nothing happens.

If I returned back in fstab menu and I deleted all, I saved, then I can launch the jail.

I tried also via the specific button to acces directly to a window for fstab, not sucessful.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Fixed cosmetic issue in 2433 - gui icon.

Hello

I tried to install thebrig. The installation was fine but when I refresh the webgui, nothing happens.
I reboot and I see the brig menu but when I select it, I have:

Code: Select all

Warning: file_get_contents(/tmp/thebrig.tmp): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /mnt/pool1/jail/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 25 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /mnt/pool1/jail/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php:25) in /mnt/pool1/jail/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 26 Warning: require_once(/conf/ext/thebrig/functions.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /mnt/pool1/jail/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 32 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/conf/ext/thebrig/functions.inc' (include_path='.:/etc/inc:/usr/local/www') in /mnt/pool1/jail/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 32
I managed this installation after a uninstallation of the brig via the menu the brig.

How can I delete correctly in order to install it ?

sorry for my noob question but do I need only to install thebrig with the standard fetch command as follow ?

Code: Select all

fetch https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fsbruva/thebrig/alcatraz/thebrig_install.sh
Or do I need to use other link ?

I tested the standard installation and I have same issue with 2433 release (fstab for owncloud).

I will test in a vm with only nas4free without any extension except the brig.

Hello Axeley.

I checked the path and it is OK. I am trying to mount a repertory which is in a dataset. It worked in the standard branch of thebrig. Perhaps now with Alcatraz I need to activate an option. I seen the checkbox enable mount zfs dataset on you picture. Do I need to activate it ?

I've recently updated my setup to Nas4Free 10.2.0.2 but I am having trouble with TheBrig. I've had this same issue each time I come to this release to try it out. I wanted to move everything to 10.2 now but I can't get past this issue: TheBrig start button keeps freaking out and wont work. I had a jail setup and I was installing the components and then it wouldn't start the jail, subsonic, processes so I restarted the machine. Now when I go back to the jail the start button doesn't work. I delete the jail to start over and I can't start the jail to even begin the process. I looked to delete the .id file but this hasn't been created yet without the jail even starting for the first time. Any idea?

post command you use to install thebrig.

PD; in 10.2 thebrig is alcatraz so probably you need to install alcatraz and not thebrig

I did install alcatraz.

Edit: I have confirmed that is something to do with the fstab because the jail launches fine once I remove the fstab entries. Here is a copy of the fstab entry I am using:

/mnt/Scrap/Music /mnt/Scrap/Extensions/Subsonic60/mnt/Music nullfs rw 0 0
/mnt/Scrap/ImportantDocuments/Music/FakeBooks /mnt/Scrap/Extensions/Subsonic60/mnt/Fakebooks nullfs rw 0 0

Edit#2: I found the mistake. There was a "SPACE" in the file name for one of my directories that wasn't handled well inside of linux aka didn't have the right syntax to make the space valid. Lesson learned that the fstab is a very picky tool and will be a source of issue if I don't get the wording correctly.

Hey guys,

if you like me experience the following issue:
After install and refresh of the webgui, Extensions doesn't show. After server reboot and klick on the theBrig, you get something like:
Warning: file_get_contents(/tmp/thebrig.tmp): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /jails/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 25 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /jails/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php:25) in /jails/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 26 Warning: require_once(/conf/ext/thebrig/functions.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /jails/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 32 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/conf/ext/thebrig/functions.inc' (include_path='.:/etc/inc:/usr/local/www') in /jails/conf/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig.php on line 32
Just make sure, you're using a fresh install!!!
In my case I had restored an old configuration that contained some traces of an old thebrig installation.

Cheers.

I too did an update to 10.3.0.3 and jails won't start. Updated TheBrig but still the Start-buttons won't work :(

Code: Select all

$ sh /tmp/thebrig_install.sh /mnt/juice/thebrig/ &
Retrieving the alcatraz branch as a zip file
Unpacking the tarball...
Done!
Detecting current configuration...
Detecting current configuration...
Look like update thebrig
Congratulations! You have fresh TheBrig version.
Looked at the thebrig.log and I see this

Code: Select all

I repair delegate zfs dataset to jail https://github.com/fsbruva/thebrig/comm ... 718a87b1a8

NOTE
1. Enforce statfs value must be 0
2. Must be checked mount devfs
3. Add rule for devfs

Code: Select all

add path zfs unhide
4 mount point into jail must be exists folder
5. zfs dataset must be unjailed. If dataset is unwanted jailed ( check into zfs dataset information ) just execute

Code: Select all

zfs set jailed=off pool1/set1
- where pool1/set1 is your dataset name
6. When jail is started, delegated dataset not visible under main system, it mounted to jail mountpoint.
Jails root user can manage delegated dataset

I added the ability to create jails in personal datasets
https://github.com/fsbruva/thebrig/comm ... 023aced697

Image

HOWTO Use
Dropdown Jail folder type - you can use simple as typical build, when jail will create in regular folder
In case zfs dataset for this - jail will build into personal zfs dataset, you must choice pool and compression
Dataset will mount to:
a) thebrig homefolder : PATH/TO/BRIG/jailname - as regular
b) where you want, for example at /usr/jail, if you define Path to jail textinput

Yoiu can manage created dataset over DISK/ZFS GUI, just syncronize system

Thanks axeley123
I will test it next week as I am using datasets for jail.

For the upgrading of Alcatraz, do I use the maintenance menu of Alcatraz ? Or it is better to uninstall and install the new version ?

Thanks

Hello, thank you for creating this! I used Finch at first and wasn't able to get Emby/Plex running inside. Now I want to install TheBrig because I hear other people have had success with it. Should I remove Finch beforehand? Or can I install it without any conflict? Thank you

Hello!
I have installed The Brig 0.94 and have created jail with FreeBsd 10.3 and the button "Start" doesn't work...
What can I do?
And how can I start jail from command line?

Try start jail manually

Code: Select all

service thebrig start JAILNAME

I have tryed, but with negative result

Code: Select all

root@nas:~# service thebrig start main
Cannot 'start' thebrig. Set thebrig_enable to YES in /etc/rc.conf or use 'onestart' instead of 'start'.
root@nas:~# service thebrig onestart main
Starting jails: security.jail.enforce_statfs: 2 -> 2
main jls: jail "main" not found
 cannot start jail "main":

main jls: jail "main" not found
 cannot start jail "main":
