Hello
Just setting up a new Nas4Free box which I intend to use as an iSCSI target for ESXi5.1
I am for fortunate enough to have 2 NICs in the server. I'd like to dedicate one to the management network and the other to iSCSI... My question is pretty simple: how do I do this ?! I can't seem to find a way to map a service to a NIC (but I'm most probably overlooking something obvious).
Also, in the above scenario, do you recommend file vs ZFS volume based extents ?

Re: Dedicate NIC to iSCSI
The easiest way is just set the client systems to connect to the iscsi nic only, not the management nic. You can also lock it down in security. No reason to lock down the bindings as well.

Re: Dedicate NIC to iSCSI
I'm in the same situation, but I don't know how to do that..I mean, I've just installed NAS4free in an old core2duo rigg for home filesharing purpouses and to use it as a iSCSI target for a ESXi 5.1. The machine where NAS4free is installed has got 2 NICs, but at the moment I'm using only one of them.
I'd like to configure the other just to be used for the iSCSI / ESXi scenerario, what should I do?
Sorry, but as you probably have noticed, I'm quite newbie in everything related to network administarion, storage administration etc...
Thanks for your time and help

Re: Dedicate NIC to iSCSI
Give the other nic an IP address. When setting up the clients, give them that second IP address.

Do not forget to add (or exclusive to) the second IP address to iscsi portal.Lee Sharp wrote:Give the other nic an IP address. When setting up the clients, give them that second IP address.
