Subject:
Smartd not running
Description:
I've not been able to receive startup mails since yesterday and not been able
to save changes for Disks|Management or Disks|Management|SMART.
Note:
1. smartctl is running, and test can be run from the command line
2. smartd has been running all these while
3. the problem started in rev775, but note that problem happens sometime after I
updated it and not immediately after updating.
4. when I remove SMART capabilities for ada0, the error appears for ada1.
Henceforth, the problem lies little with ada0 per se.

Code: Select all

root: /etc/rc: WARNING: failed to start smartd
smartd[2038]: Unable to register device /dev/ada0 (no Directive -d removable). Exiting.
smartd[2038]: Unable to register ATA device /dev/ada0 at line 1 of file /var/etc/smartd.conf
