[SOLVED] Question about M1015 to sata cable

Post by iron31 »

Hello all

I' waiting for a M1015 controller, and I need 2 cables to connect my sata disks.
This model found in Ebay is perfect.
Image
Problem, seller warning about 2 types of cable :
Mini SAS to 4 SATA cable, uses to connect your Mini SAS controller to SATA backplane.

- Mini SAS (SFF-8087) is the Controller
- 4 Sata is the Backplane
- Controller (Mini SAS 4i SFF-8087) to 4x 7Pin SATA storage
Be careful: there are two kinds of version of this cable, ours comply with molex Pin out 2
- Mini SAS (SFF-8087 Controller) to 4sATA (Backplane)
- Mini SAS (SFF-8087 HOST) to 4sATA (target) cable

Actually it is very simple to confirm whether this is the correct cable you are looking for:

. Mini SAS (SFF-8087 is the HOST
. 4SATA is the TARGET
The explanation is not very clear. :?
Anyone can tell me if this model is ok ?

Thanks

If you need to connect IBM M1015 directly to hard disks, get the mini SAS SFF-8087 forward breakout cable (or in your description : Mini SAS (SFF-8087 HOST) to 4sATA (target) cable)

Hello all.

My M1015 cross flashed in LSI IT P16 Mode is ok with these two kinf of cable :

Image
:Mini SAS 36pin (SFF-8087) to 4X SATA angled cable, 8087 to Angled SATA 0.5M
or
Image
:Mini SAS 36PIN SFF-8087 host to 4 SATA 7Pin target Hard Disk Raid Cable 50cm

These 2 kind of cables works perfectly.
