NAS4FREE WITH WIFI BRIDGE

Post by nicobrigante »

hello

hello i have a nas4free and all is ok with ethernet. but where i want to install it there is not ethernet connexion. So i try two things in order to plug it from far
1. CPL(elec plug ) : ok but speed go down from 60mo/s to 2mo/s
2. Bridge wifi VONETS VAP11N: ok but speed go down from 2mo/s to 200k/s

is it normal or is there something else to configure (in the v6 Freebox maybe) ?

a pci card or dongle wifi will be more performant ?(but which model because i have a dongle wifi TPLINK and it is recognized at the beginnig of the starting but impossible to configure it in nas4free)

thank you for your help

WiFi is very slow in the best case, and you are almost never in the best case. For example, 802.11G has a max speed of 50 meg. With poor signal or interference that can drop down to 2 meg. And many cheaper devices are NOT full duplex, so cut it in half again...

If you can get the new 5ghz N devices, and quality parts at each end (Like the EnGenius EAP600) you can get 300 meg Full Duplex, and that is as good as it gets. It will also cost you a few hundred dollars. Cheaper to run a cable.
