Samsung HD204UI spindown & spinup problem
Yesterday I installed NAS4Free 9 and began to issue from Samsung HD204UI 2TB HDD. After setting the standby for 10 minutes non-stop drive spindown and spinup at intervals of tens of seconds. Do you know any solution to this problem? Moderboard in my configuration is Intel D510MO.

Re: Samsung HD204UI spindown & spinup problem
I am using the same drives for 2,5 years now without any issues of this kind.
If you have Advanced Power management enabled, try to disable it (I think this might be the issue)
I am attaching the settings from one of my drives (set to spindown after 30min, works as expected)

In what mode you set the controller in the BIOS - AHCI or Legacy IDE?

Re: Samsung HD204UI spindown & spinup problem
I think AHCI, but I am not sure.(not sure if it even has a setting like this...) It is a headless server, installed since freenas 7 days. I haven't touched the BIOS for the past 2-3 years...
I remember that I had similar issues, though, when I first bought the HD204UIs, and the problem was solved by disabling APM. Did you try it?

Re: Samsung HD204UI spindown & spinup problem
It is not well with this HDD. In settings such as in your disk does not turn off after a set time in both modes AHCI and IDE. In addition, a firmware is 1AQ10001, which can cause errors when using smartctl. I was unable to load the new firmware version by using F4EG tool.
