Intel NIC / Shutdown /WOL-Problem

Post by drnicolas »

First problem of my NAS4Free-machine is/was that the machine did not power-off correctly.

Using the power-button, GUI or console shuts down the machine, shortly swithc it off and then the machine powers up again with no user-intervention.

I am using a Intel CT Desktop NIC in addition to the built-in NIC.
Interanl NIC is disabled, at least, i See only ONE NIC in Web-GUI which is em0.

1. I never got WOL working
2. The NAS4Free does never fall asleep or even put dirves in standby.
3. Power-Daemon is activated
4. Shutdown does not switch off the machine as expected - see above
5. WOL ist set to "WOL-magic"

I have a HP N54l running

Can someone help me

Have you ever thought about removing the Intel NIC ? It kills WOL/shutdown and as far as I understand, the benefit for Performance is not great.

Maybe the onboard-NIC works. Hace you tried this one ?
