NAS Transfer speeds

Post by foxdoismil »

I have the feeling that my system is very slow and will appreciate learning what kind of performance should I expect from a nas4free system.
My NAS has 5x4TB Seagate NAS HDDs in RaidZ2 and NO SSD drive or ZIL at all.

What speeds should I see in my NAS4free in the following situations:

1) Duplicating a 5GByte file at command line (I believe this should be the maximum possible speed, limited only by the drives and ZFS performance, and will be my reference standard)
2) Copying a 5GByte file from Desktop to the NAS trough Gigabit Ethernet cable.
3) Copying a 5GByte file from Desktop to the NAS trough WiFi class N.

Thanks

I am ashamed to have to make it public that I do not know how to measure it.
I made a cp command and tried to see on the gui (status disks) and saw numbers like 2M slowly increasing up to 20 M, (but it took more than five minutes to increase this much).
