9.1.0.1 - Sandstorm (revision 847) embedded in a HP Proliant N40L Microserver with 8GB RAM.
Whenever I add/move/remove hard discs, NAS4Free usually re-numbers the disks differently (ada1, ada2, ada3, etc.) and then reports an error.
Despite having backed up the config file, I can't seem to find anyway of reconfiguring the system without manually setting it up all again by hand.
Restoring the config file just ignores the newly added disks. And I then can't seem to import/find/format the new disks any more?
What is the correct way to
(a) add disks without disturbing the existing disk numbering and configuration?
or maybe:
(b) renumber disks (ada1, ada2, etc.) AFTER they've been installed, to match the previous configuration?
Or am I doing this all wrong?
I basically want to add further disks to an existing configuration (maybe to create new shares, or add vdevs to a zfspool, etc.)

Re: Trouble when NAS4Free re-numbers disks
In a normal NAS, is not habitual to change/add disk, you only need to add one or more disk when system grows and have no space left.
When you add disk, you need to go to Disks|Management and use new button "Clear config & import disk" to sync webGUI to real system, so disk are well detected and assingned.

If you have ZFS pools afeccted, you can also need to go to Disks|ZFS|Configuration|Synchronize to de the same in pool, sync info stored in webGUI with real disk used in the pool.

doing this current and detected, show the same: http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=do ... n_detected

Re: Trouble when NAS4Free re-numbers disks
Many thanks for the reply, Raul. I'll check this out and come back.
(I agree: I don't expect to be swapping disks in/out regularly, I'm just building up my ultimate NAS as I want it, and I am trying a few different configurations, while I keep my earlier/simpler NAS online too.)
