Transfer speed issue

Post by Thewiruz »

Ok so ive seen a lot of topics but no solution.

I might have a different issue as i can reach speed of 60-70mb/s when moving files from Nas to windows 7 but most of the time the roof seams to be 19-25mb/s.
I mean why is it almost 45mb/s difference? i have tried to double the TX buffer and also set it to zero without any difference. When i reach 70mb/s is very randomly.
Feels like the system is the limit most of the time and then boom 70mb/s....

I have a basic disc setup with Nas4free embedded
No ZFS , i Use UFS, No raid, just a basic disc setup.

OS = Nas4free V 9.1.0.1.847 embedded x64
HDD = WD green 2tb WD20EZRX
CPU,GPU;Mobo=Intel D510MO http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ ... 510mo.html
Modem/Router= Netgear CG3100 http://www.netgear.com/service-provider ... G3100.aspx#

Thanks but i have none of the settings below, I use a single Disc with UFS filesystem , No raid and no Zfs filesystem.
This guide is aimed at ZFS implementations, but some of the points also apply to Software Raid installations.

Please execute iperf and "dd" test to know how fast is your NIC and your HD like described on siftu site, and post result.
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Thewiruz, you receive values megabit per second or megabyte per second ?

dd test on Atom intel motherboard, if use ufs (not zfs ) will max 150 MB/sec (but I think about ~110 MB/sec )

iperf: you must run server in N4f so you need to use

Code: Select all

iperf -s
you can execute it using option 6 in N4F menu (shell) or open a shell using putty from windows ( you need SSH service active).

To run client on your win 7 , you need iperf for windows, googling a bit:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/iperf/files/jperf/
http://code.google.com/p/iperf-cygwin/downloads/list

for "dd" you only need putty or shell to execute commands.
