I use a old NB Acer TM4102 to run N4F. It work great except wake on lan feature. There is not any wol option in the bios of the Notebook, but i'm sure the wol is normal, because i have installed a winxp in it, and the wol work normal. but if i install N4F 9.0.1 x86(847) , Freenas8.3.2, Freenas9.1.1, openmediavault in it, it can't wake up.
The NIC of Acer TM4102 is BCM4401, and i can't find the option "wol_magic" in the WEBUI, i run ifconfig in the shell, and also can't find any wol option.
After shutdown, the LED of NIC is turn on, so I think this issue would be a bug or driver issue of the OS, but i don't know how to solve it, Can somebody help me?

Re: WOL can't work
if the driver doesnt support wol you wont be able to make wol work.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

Re: WOL can't work
I have bought other pcmcia NIC, I hope it is supported by N4F. I will report the result latter.
Is there any way to driver bcm4401 NIC in freebsd with wol support?

Re: WOL can't work
the question i have to ask. why use a notebook as a nas?
that is a very suboptimal choice.

Re: WOL can't work
Because I have a old NB which monitor is borken, I installed N4F on it, I just download, ftp and watch movie on TV with DLNA, The old NB is enough for me. but I don't need the NAS working all the day, so if the wol is normal, I can control it any where, it would be great.b0ssman wrote:the question i have to ask. why use a notebook as a nas?
