IO freezes for about 60 seconds while reading from disk

Hello,

I'm running full install build 847 on a 32-bit system.
Attached is a WD MyBook 2TB RAID0 disk via USB.
Occasionally while reading from this disk all IO will freeze/hang for about 60 seconds, and then continue without error or data loss.
If I try to access the disk in another session this also hangs until the freeze is over.
At the time of the freeze the disk is up and spinning, but not making any noise, so not physically reading from disk.
Disk is formatted UFS; it used to be formatted as NTFS and attached to a Windows machine and then did not show these freezes.
Sometimes the freeze occurs 2 times in 1 hour, sometimes not at all for quite a few hours.
System logs show no related messages.

do not use usb for attaching storage.

USB is supported.

Does anybody know if the "transfer mode" for the disk might have an affect on this?

USB is supported.

YES is supported by BSD, but is not as stable as SATA for use as a NAS, USB is intended as provisional ( low time) transfer not for proffessional use.

If you do not want to lose data or have freezes, use SATA connections instead.

PD: If you need NTFS & USB, perhaps a debian based NAS is better for you : OMV: http://www.openmediavault.org/
