When I finished the installation and try to install it on a hard drive, I get the error that the system is unable to mount the CD!
Any ideas?

Re: Unable to mount CD
if you finish installation, not need to install on HD.fosu01 wrote:When I finished the installation and try to install it on a hard drive
Please describe step you do to do install, or read the setup & user guide: http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=do ... user_guide

Re: Unable to mount CD
I run installation from the CD. At the menu I choose option 3, Install 'full' OS on HDD + DATA + SWAP partition.raulfg3 wrote:if you finish installation, not need to install on HD.fosu01 wrote:When I finished the installation and try to install it on a hard drive

I select the the source CD and the hard drive I want to install i on.
Then I get a message saying:
Mount CDROM
g_vfs_done():cd1[READ(offset=32768, length=2048)]error = 5
Error: Failed to mount device 'cd1'!
There was a problem while mounting the CDROM drive

Re: Unable to mount CD
OK, the error is related to BSD install CD , not to Nas4free, but you have at least 2 options:
1- Do not use CD and install embeded ( you need *.img and a tool to write image).
but because you want to do a full install perhaps option 1 do not like so option 2 is:
2- change CD reader for other brand / or SATA connector ( some times the SATA is from a unsoported chip), so provisionally use other SATA port, perhaps works for you. (if fails try a USB cd-reader, sometimes a frien can give you one for a time).
CD-reader is need only first time when install or when do you want to upgrade. so you can detach while not in use.

Re: Unable to mount CD
Thank´s for info but I think I´ve tried all those options. Even different motherboards ( ASUS an Gigabyte) with same result.raulfg3 wrote:OK, the error is related to BSD install CD , not to Nas4free, but you have at least 2 options:

Also tried with a USB-reader but no luck

Re: Unable to mount CD
strange, because install for CD-Rom is the default method and works for a lot of people.
Sorry, but I can't help you.

Re: Unable to mount CD
I have got the exactly same problem trying to solve. My system and dvd-rom is known to work at least for 9.0.0.1 - Sandstorm (revision 141). But not anymore for newer versions.fosu01 wrote:

I will try different cables and dvd/cd-roms the coming days but i doubt it will help becourse it loads like it should from the DVD. The problem arrives when i choose to install from the DVD to HD. Im using PATA for my dvd-rom.
