Hi, I am moving my nas box from Freenas to nas4free. I have 3x2T 512byte/sec HDD working well. I plan to use zfs, and will configure them into raidz1. My question is: As I create the pool without the 4K check, how do I replace dead HDD with a new 4K/sec HDD in the future, because it's hard to find a new 2T 512byte/sec HDD from the market? Or can I create the pool with 4K ckeck for the 3x2T 512byte/sec HDD, and then I can replace dead HDD with a new 4K/sec HDD in the future? Any problem if I create the pool with 4K check for 512byte/sec HDDs?
Thanks!
Chan

Re: Replacing a 512byte/Sec HDD with a 4K/Sec HDD
not possible, but you can use a 4K disk in a 512 byte Disk-pool and do not notice speed penalty ( at least not a lot of penalty) please replace it an do several test to see if really notice differencies on speed.
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Re: Replacing a 512byte/Sec HDD with a 4K/Sec HDD
replace in the normal way, your 4K disk are used by your pool like a 512 Bytes Disk, this, do not suppose a great problem, only (in theory suppose a speed problem), but in my experience do not notice, so my point is:C.C. Replace it and test if notice less speed.
