Re: Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 on HP Microserver n40l
Hi
with 9.1.0.1.847 the Bonjour-/Zeroconf-Service was OK,
with 9.2.0.1.925 there isn’t any advertising happening on
the Network - is it just me? -
Does anyone see Bonjour-/Zeroconf-Advertising with 9.2.0.1.925
or is it also broken ?
Thanks
Regards, OlafD01

Hi,ChriZathens wrote:USB with .847 wakes up normally - just tested it..
Nice to read that WOL on N40L with 9.1.0.1.847 is working, but with the
HP N54L, the built-in Ethernet-Adapter (bge) and .847, the server
shutdown and stays there, so for me, I think no WOL with that setup ...
Does WOL works 'out of the box' or do you have modified something ?

Hello. A long discussion regarding n54l and wol in the past, had revealed that ( at least for the user who had posted the info ) wol was working when the server was connected on a gigabit network. Are you using gigabit, or just 10/100?OlafD01 wrote:Hi,ChriZathens wrote:USB with .847 wakes up normally - just tested it..

Re: Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 on HP Microserver n40l
Thanks, have tried (9.2.0.1.934) and USB memory stick is imported correctly. However, this system is still not flawless... discovered another tricky problem.RedAntz wrote:Thanks ! Fix is committed and will be available in the next release.
My situation:
ZFS pool with 8 disks (ada0, ada1, ada2, ada3, ada6, ada7, ada8, ada9)
CF boot disk (ada4)
UFS disk (ada5)
Today I added one UFS HDD:
ZFS pool became: ada0, ada1, ada2, ada3, ada7, ada8, ada9, ada10, so added UFS disk had become ada 6
Then I imported the added disk using 'Import disks', but not all information was correct (i.e. file-system showed ZFS storage device for added UFS disk, now ada6), ZFS disk ada10, showed UFS as file-system. Then I choose 'Clear config and Import disks', nothing happened, rebooted and everything was fine in Disk Management, so that has been solved!
Now comes the problem, I would like to mount the newly added UFS disk using the WebGUI but adding a mount point only offers to mount existing disks ada4, ada5 and ada10 (zpool storage disk !!!), newly added disk (ada) is not available in the drop-down list (also not after reboot). So I cannot mount...
Will you look into it?
Thanks again for all the good and hard work. I really appreciate your efforts and like NAS4Free!
kind regards, Maarten

Can you please send me the following details for troubleshooting ?maarten wrote: I am using embedded installation (CF disk).
1. The section between <disks></disks> from config.xml . You can obfuscate /remove your hard disk serial number
2. output from
Code: Select all
camcontrol devlist -vCode: Select all
cat /etc/cfdevice-

Re: Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 on HP Microserver n40l
Thanks for the hint. !!! - WOL is possible, with N54L at a 1000-Speed-Connection - !!!ChriZathens wrote: Hello. A long discussion regarding n54l and wol in the past, had revealed that ( at least for the user who had posted the info ) wol was working when the server was connected on a gigabit network. Are you using gigabit, or just 10/100?
The main testing was on networks with a mixture between 10/100 and Gibabit-Ethernet,
and N4F-9.1.0.1.804, in retrospective, mostly limited to 100-Speed - on a 1000-Network
both N4F-Switches (ON and WOL_MAGIC) are working 'out of the box'.
If the N54L, with N4F-9.1.0.1.847 (or N4F-9.1.0.1.804), is connected at 10/100 or
limited to 100-Ethernet (Network > Lan Management) WOL is broken.
And - only the Server must be connected with 1000, Magic-Packets sent from clients
connected with 100 or 10 trigger a wakeup-event.

Re: Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 on HP Microserver n40l
With new version of n4f (.925) wol won't work because the bge patch is not included. But a few posts back, zoon posted a .930 version , which has the patch, but at least for me wol still doesn't work.
Could you test, too, and see what the results are for your n54l?

Re: Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 on HP Microserver n40l
Oh that’s strange - with .847 it’s impossible to switch WOL off (via Network>Lan Management),ChriZathens wrote:With new version of n4f (.925) wol won't work because the bge patch is not included. it always stays active, and with .947 or .930 it’s impossible to switch WOL on.
With the .847-Build the Switch-LED-Indicators are showing an always active link, even at shutdown.
With the .947 or .930-Build, the Ethernet-LEDs are showing that the NIC is somehow reconfigured,
from 1000 to Link-Down to Link-Up at 100-Speed, but at that speed WOL is broken with N54L .
Could you switch WOL on N40L (.847) temporary off (without limiting the speed to 100 or 10),
or does the N40L shows the same like the N54L ?

Re: Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 on HP Microserver n40l
Perhaps 10/100 is broken fow n40l, too, it is just that I don't have an easy way to test in a 10/100 network (it is currently connected to a gigabit switch and although I do have a spare 10/100 switch to test, it is not easy to change the wiring ATM)
Anyways, just gave it a go using .947, too and wol does not work
And you are correct regarding version .847. While wakeon is set to off, nic light blinks the same on my n40l and wol still works..
Please follow/participate in the conversation on the release topic so that I/we won't have to post in two places..

Hi,ChriZathens wrote:Perhaps 10/100 is broken for n40l, too, it is just that I don't have an easy way to test in a 10/100 network ...
You could switch/limit via WebGui to 10 or 100-Speed (via Network>Lan Management>Media>100baseTX).

OK, I post there ...ChriZathens wrote: Please follow/participate in the conversation on the release topic so that I/we won't have to post in two places..![]()
