JAIL will not start

Post by infinion »

Yesterday i have installed TheBrig addon, created one working jail for Sabnzbd; works fine. Except that TheBrig seems really buggy.
The FSTAB entry does not work, so i made them manually in the file it created in /etc/fstab.SABNZBD

Exactly the same way i created another jail, but this one will not start; it gives the following error in the log:
root: /etc/rc.d/jail: ERROR: jail: No hostname has been defined for AUTOSUB

Anyone knows why this is but also where it can be solved? Thanks in advance :)

I see entry <subnet>32</subnet>
So, You not need network connect from jails?

Fstab entries is true, must be work. Check into /etc folder 2 fstabs

The jails are connected to the network, the one that is working also has network connectivity. It displays its IP as: 192.168.2.7 / 32 so a single IP.

In the /etc folder there is: fstab and fstab.SABNZBD

AUTOSUB is in the same Jail folder as SABNZBD is. /mnt/Data_0/Jail I have saved it and rebooted several times, it keeps saying the HOSTNAME is not there. While i can see it displayed in webgui config....
The entries are valid in fstab, but the entries from the GUI are not loaded. I made them the same so no matters.

Netmask 32 is normal when pointing out a single IP, and TheBrig is assigning it automatically when entering the IP on creating the jail. Why would i assign a range of ip adresses to a jail? It just uses on address to connect to the network.

You see this message under webgui tab Extensions|TheBrig| Log ?
This is true message, freebsd need set hostname over rc.conf, but for jail main NAS4Free server do it itself.
The entries are valid in fstab, but the entries from the GUI are not loaded. I made them the same so no matters.
such behavior can not beю
I explain:
fstab files must be placed under main NAS4Free /etc folder, and have names /etc/fstab.<jailname>
into some folder you can observe /etc/rc.conf.local with entries about your jail
Netmask 32 is normal when pointing out a single IP, and TheBrig is assigning it automatically when entering the IP on creating the jail.
It assign automatically because I define it for my experiments. Users not familiar with network-tricks need define it some as NAS4Free main netmask.
Netmask 32 not give connectivity to network. Jail must know router, name server, broadcast address, and any another adress for connect. If you define netmask=32, host must connect itself only.

I have no log option in the TheBrig menu, only the Nas4Free log file.
Does TheBrig not place the fstab files there? What is the use of the fstab option in creating a jail?

When i look at /etc/rc.conf.local i can only see the Jail called SABNZBD in there.

What do i need todo to get this working? It seems its not very smooth and straight forward as it should be.

Ok, this is messy.

I have looked into rc.conf.local and copied the data from SABNZBD jail and pasted it again below the last line and replaced SABNZBD with AUTOSUB (jail names)
Then i added a file named fstab.AUTOSUB in /etc/

Now the jail starts... how come TheBrig does not do this for me? Can i enable a more detailed level of logging somewhere?

Only one other thing, it has no IP; where do i add that manually?

infinion, not need add any to thebrig files manually - after reboot all files will rewrite.
What version nas4free you use - full or embedded ? I can not find any at my installation - TheBrig create all files without problem.
If you use old master branch try upgrade TheBrig to working. You not need rebuild jail, only replace TheBrig

Code: Select all

fetch https://raw.github.com/fsbruva/thebrig/working/thebrig_install.sh
for your nas

Code: Select all

sh thebrig_install.sh /mnt/Data_0/Jail 2

Hi Alexey,
Thanks for the instructions. But it still does not work using the working branch, Same issue.

FSTAB is not added, IP is not added, HOSTNAME is not added. Only the first jail i created works as it should, except for fstab.
This seems to alpha/buggy to me, how can this be promoted as THE jail for nas4free? And still be taken seriously? :-)

The system has been running perfect for over a year, including the updates of the new releases.

Version is: 9.1.0.1 - Sandstorm (revision 847) x64-full
