I have a Asrock E3C226D2I motherboard with dual i210 nics onboard. For the life of me I cannot get WOL working in N4F.
At first I thought it might be a mobo problem but WOL works in Windows 8.
I tried installing freebsd 9.2 and 10 and WOL doesn't work in either one.
Doing a ifconfig -m does not show WOL capabilities but that doesn't make sense since freebsd uses the official intel igb driver and it does support WOL.
Anyone have a similar problem or shed some light on how to get WOL working?

Re: Intel i210 Gigabit adapter WOL support.
on some intel card you had to explicitly enable it in the adapters rom, but since you have already enabled that in windows 8 that would not be the problem.
it could be that the freebsd driver does not yet support wol.

Re: Intel i210 Gigabit adapter WOL support.
b0ssman, that what I was afraid of. After searching high and low I could not find out why WOL is not working with the i210. Since my board has IPMI, not having WOL is fine as now I've written some simple scripts to power my NAS via IPMI. I'll rule this one out to the igb driver not having WOL support for i210 for now.

Vandy,
I'm curious what kind of scripts you wrote to power on via IPMI. Are you using linux? I found a couple open source projects that seem like they would allow scripting of IPMI.

Onichan, they are just super simple vbscripts. I posted them online here. Feel free to use them: viewtopic.php?f=70&t=5984&p=33523#p33523
