Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
Hi,
I´m new to bas4free. I´ve been running a small nas server with nas4free embedded installed to a 1GB usb flash stick. It´s the latest 9.1.x Version. It runs pretty well? Would an upgrade to 9.2. via web gui be problematic?
Thanks for answers.!

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
For me the upgrade was easy. Download the new code then select upgrade firmware from the system menu, follow the prompts & done.
Having a fresh backup on hand, just in case, us always a good idea!

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
Hello,
thanks for your answer.
Just quoting The readme/changelog for 9.2.x
"Only try to upgrade if you know that your boot partition is 1G or more in size, otherwise a install from scratch is the recommended way,
sorry for inconvenience."
To be more precise: Is upgrading from 9.1.x to 9.2.x via web gui embedded installation on a 1GB stick risky?
Thanks a lot.

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
I just upgraded my NAS4Free box from 9.1.0.1 to 9.2.0.1 (rev 943). I used the GUI to upgrade. The machine is a supermicro X10SLL motherboard with an intel i3-4130 CPU and 16GB ECC memory. I am using a 16GB flash drive for a boot disk and two 3TB SATA drives in a ZFS mirror for data. I have two issues. First, I can't reboot. If I reboot, it says it can't find the configuration and halts. If I press the button on the front of the machine, then it will boot normally. The other problem is my UPS I have an APC UPS with a usb interface. It it on interface ugen0.5 (ugen0.5: <Back-UPS ES 600G FW905.W1 .D USB FWW1 APC> at usbus0, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=LOW (1.5Mbps) pwr=ON (2mA)) but upcmon can't connect to it. I am using the usbhid-ups driver. I get these messages on the console: Communications with UPS ups@localhost lost If I disable and reenable the service, this message appears at the top of the web page: Error: The changes could not be applied (error code 1). if I run the driver manually, it seems to work.

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
Have you read the posts of this thread? have you checked whether your partition (no one mentioned "total device size", only "partition" was mentioned) was 1 GB or more?lawrencem wrote:I just upgraded my NAS4Free box from 9.1.0.1 to 9.2.0.1 (rev 943). I think you had a standard partition of 200 MB and you have to reflash the USB key.

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
Hello all,
No problem here also.
I saved the config file as "config-9.1.0.1.847LastGood" and loaded the embedded image 9.2.0.1.943 from the webGUI, it took 5 minutes and the Server was up and running with no need to finetune anything in the config file.

Ciao @+

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
Hi all,
I've made an update from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x, too. This update seems to be working preety good, I've checked it on the Web GUI side in GENERAL tab. The new firmware version shows 9.2.x. But I saw, that my www folder is gone (with owncloud). Also some scripts defined in the root home directory are deleted. Does anybody knows this issue? Maybe I've missed something. Actually I did not a backup of these files, but that's okay (just test files)...
Regards
sunny

Re: Upgrade from 9.1.xxx to 9.2.x
this is normal when you upgrade nas4Free because your boot parttition is deleted and recreated. (not happend when updated)sunny72 wrote: But I saw, that my www folder is gone (with owncloud). To avoid this problem in future, please create your onwcloud inside a jail ( and jail in data disk), and save your script to your data disk.
and , next time read the red words in the upgrade topic: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=5890
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)
