CrashPlan
Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but is it possible to create a Jail for running CrashPlan? My wife will be scanning her family pictures and I want to back them up to somewhere than just our NAS4Free box. Would creating a standard Jail & then following this guide work?

Re: CrashPlan
if just you want to backup / share data to the cloud there are a lot of different cheap services (depending on the size of data) like Dropbox, Google Drive etc. without the need of setting up software in you NAS. Since I don't like to have my data in the cloud I prefer and like the idea of BitTorrent Sync (supports also versioning and almost all important OSs). I do backups from PCs to two N4F servers to be sure ...smccloud wrote:Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but is it possible to create a Jail for running CrashPlan? You can find an extension I wrote for N4F here => viewtopic.php?f=71&t=5704 without the need of setting up a jail and to install additional packages.

Re: CrashPlan
I got crashplan to work inside a jail, but I can't figure out how to get access to my dataset from with in the jail. I've got it mounted and can read it from inside the jail, but crashplan itself doesn't seem to see it.
Any idea how to get crashplan to see a mounted directory?

Re: CrashPlan
I realise that this is bringing up an old thread, but as I came to this looking for answers and this post was the one that came closest to asking the question that I was seeking answers for, I feel it appropriate to add a reply.mrhanman wrote:I got crashplan to work inside a jail, but I can't figure out how to get access to my dataset from with in the jail. Crashplan does not see folders in all directories and it appears that if the dataset is mounted to mnt, then it will not work. Create a new directory somewhere else (such as a home directory) and mount the dataset there instead. You're much more likely to meet with success.
If anyone has anything to add to this and can explain things in more/better detail than I have, please do so. I'm just hoping this might help preserve someone's sanity
