Logitech Media Server in jail - can't play certain files

Post by cookiemonster »

I have installed LMS 7.7.3 inside a jail using the excellent thebrig and instructions provided by the excellent chaps alexey123, fsbruva and other contributors. I moved from freenas 7 to nas4free 9.2 - 64bit. All good.
Problem I'm trying to solve is that some files can't be played, the logged error is:

Code: Select all

[14-03-29 17:11:35.8975] Slim::Player::Squeezebox2::statHandler (147) Error: 00:04:20:22:92:b8: Decoder does not support file format, code 0
The only files this happens on files with extension m4a, the details reported for it are:
container: MPEG-4 AAC
codec: Apple Lossless Audio (ALAC)

Same as reported here: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/MySqueeze ... true#M6972 but there's no solution. I realise this might be an LMS question, but these files played fine on freenas 7, the problem started after the upgrade.
Anyone with some pointers please?

I'm still unable to play these files. I've tried re-creating the old freenas 7 installation inside a jail - no go due to freebsd 7 not available for creating jails. So, I installed freephp virtualbox and created a freebsd 7.3 virtual machine. Loads of problems with Samba but managed to get to the mount point eventually.
I've then followed the instructions to install slimnas and lms on this vm, but the lms server doesn't seem to start. All logs are silent about it. I might have to abandon this route.
If anyone could give me a pointer to what I could look at for resolving the original error on nas4free 9.2:

Code: Select all

[14-03-29 17:11:35.8975] Slim::Player::Squeezebox2::statHandler (147) Error: 00:04:20:22:92:b8: Decoder does not support file format, code 0

I'll be much obliged.

sorry still no experinece on LMS, but if you have opportunity try to test OMV and LMS support on it, prhaps is what you need:

I'll have a look, thanks. I've got to say I'm not very inclined to jump ship from Nas4free, I would have liked to stick with it, but maybe will need to get real. It woudl be a shame. I'll have a read. Thanks.

I think I figured out. It's been a lot of link jumping but for anyone else looking, check that the faad version on your lms installation needs to be a squeezebox-patched version.

Yes Raul. I was going to place a post on the thread that gave me the original installation instructions, the one from fsbruva, but not sure if I'd be polluting it.
Anyhow, for anyone else looking, the tarball downloaded from http://www.xenopsyche.net/mkempe/lms/install.sh (which is great, thanks to the guys there) seems to include standard faad binary. I replaced that one installed in /usr/local/bin with the patched version included in the downloads made available by logitech.
