Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a way (Free if posible) to backup certain folders on my ZFS pool to a Windows machine. I've googled and looked at various topics but most topics cover zfs send, rsync or how to backup Windows machine to ZFS.
Or to backup to other pools, or attched USB disks.
Now i have a Windows machine with enough room for my most important documents located in a different room and floor in the house. This machine however isn't always powered on. But usually at least one time a day.
My plan was to have the backup software installed on the windows machine and let it run whenever that machine gets powered on.
I've used crashplan in the past which i loved. Also for off-site backups. But crashplan isn't able to backup network shares.
Also crashplan isn't available on freebsd (or at least involves a to complicated process for me to follow).
Anyone have a good recommendation how to backup some of my folders located on ZFS storage pool to a windows machine?

Re: Backup certain folders to Windows Machine
I use Freefilesync to do a simmilar job, I use FreeFilesync to detect changed files and actualize in my windows PC
I use sync in a hand made way ( I launch freeFileSync when I want and sync only those folders that I want eg: Video folder or data folder).
http://sourceforge.net/projects/freefilesync/
http://freefilesync.sourceforge.net/
Is not as you request , but for me is usefull and enought to do once a week.

Re: Backup certain folders to Windows Machine
Thanks, i will have a look at it.
It's mostly static data, so a backup once a week would also be fine.
And off course if anyone has a better suggestion, i'm open for it.

Re: Backup certain folders to Windows Machine
I use Rich copy, which is very fast and highly configurable:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/maga ... light.aspx
mainly for one-directional copy jobs (i.e. just copies new or changed files to the target)
and SyncToy:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=15155
for 'real' synchronizing of drives, folders and files
